Information for professionals

The Greenwich 0 to 4 Health Visiting Service is provided by Bromley Healthcare, an award-winning social enterprise providing a wide range of community healthcare services to people of all ages in Bromley, Bexley, Greenwich and Lewisham.

All referrals from whatever source (including children, young people and families transferring into area) will receive a response to the referrer within 5 working days, with contact made with the child, young person or family within 10 working days.

Timings for mandated health reviews will be followed (for example newborn visit) ideally within 10–14 days of the birth date.

Urgent referrals, including all safeguarding referrals will receive a same day or next working day response to the referrer and contact within 2 working days and be in line with Local Safeguarding procedures.

Referrals to the Strengthening Families Programme need to be made by any relevant professional / agency, including:

  • Perinatal Mental Health teams
  • Maternity services
  • Safeguarding children teams / MASH
  • General Practitioners
  • Liaison Health Visitor/ Specialist Health Visitors
  • Universal Health Visiting teams
  • Children centre / Early help

Referrals need to be made before the 26 weeks of pregnancy, using the Strengthening Families referral form.

If you think that a child or young person under the age of 18 years old, who lives in the borough, is being abused or neglected, contact the MASH team using the contact details below. 

Not all concerns raised about a child will automatically lead to a child protection investigation. Less serious concerns may lead to a more general assessment of need and the provision of services or the offer of advice and information.

Agencies can use the inter-agency referral form to refer a child to children's social care for safeguarding and or Early Help Services.

Becoming a Health Visitor

Bromley Healthcare offer great opportunities for applicants and existing employees. We offer funded postgraduate courses for nurses or midwives to progress into becoming a health visitor.
